Services approach & overview general tools and resources

The contents of this deliverable are split into three groups. Following an introduction, a concept and vision is sketched on how to establish the necessary natural language processing (NLP) services including the integration of existing resources. Therefore, an overview on the state-of-the-art is given, incorporating technologies developed by the consortium partners and beyond, followed by the service approach and a practical example. Second, a concept and vision on how to create interoperability for the envisioned learning tools to allow for a quick and painless integration into existing learning environment(s) is elaborated. A Reference Architecture for Providing Latent Semantic Analysis Applications in Distributed Systems. Diploma Thesis

With the increasing availability of storage and computing power, Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) has gained more and more significance in practice over the last decade. This diploma thesis aims to develop a reference architecture which can be utilised to provide LSA based applications in a distributed system. It outlines the underlying problems of generation, processing and storage of large data objects resulting from LSA operations, the problems arising from bringing LSA into a distributed context, suggests an architecture for the software components necessary to perform the tasks, and evaluates the applicability to real world scenarios, including the implementation of a classroom scenario as a proof-of-concept. Das Themenfeld "Sport und Wirtschaft" als Modul des kompetenzorientierten Lehrplanes für das Wahlpflichtfach "Sportkunde"

Die österreichische Regierung hat 2011 als "Jahr der Bildung" ausgerufen. Sie reagierte mit dieser "Aktion" auf die immer lauter werdenden Stimmen vieler Kritiker, die eine große Schulreform forderten. Eine große Bildungsreform und die Erneuerung der Schule war das ambitionierte Ziel der Regierung. Ein Teil dieser Erneuerung betraf die Einführung nationaler Bildungsstandards. Durch die präzise Benennung der gewünschten Lernergebnisse und Kompetenzen der Schülerinnen und Schüler sollte eine Steigerung der Qualität schulischer Arbeit angestrebt werden. Bei einigen Unterrichtsfächern wurde dieser Umstellungsprozess bereits vollzogen, bei anderen ist dieser noch voll im Gang. Auch dem Unterrichtsfach "Sportkunde" steht dieser Paradigmenwechsel, bei dem Nachhaltigkeit und Ergebnisorientierung in das Zentrum des Unterrichts rücken, noch bevor. Das Ziel dieser Diplomarbeit soll es sein, den LehrerInnen Möglichkeiten für die Umsetzung des neuen kompetenzorientierten Lehrplans im Unterricht aufzuzeigen. Es soll eine Art Unterrichtsbehelf entstehen, mit dem den Lehrpersonen die Umstellung auf das neue System erleichtert wird und sie ihren Schülerinnen und Schülern einen qualitativ guten und den neuen Anforderungen entsprechend modernen Unterricht bieten können. Diese Diplomarbeit konzentriert sich dabei speziell auf das Themenfeld "Sport und Wirtschaft" mit all ihren unterschiedlichen Ausprägungen. Neben zusammenfassenden, themenspezifischen, theoretischen Ausführungen und Informationen liefert die Arbeit auch direkt für den Unterricht verwendbare Materialien in Form von Arbeitsblättern und kompetenzorientierten Aufgabenstellungen für SchülerInnen. Es werden die vielfältigen Verflechtungen von Sport und Wirtschaft aufgezeigt und mit praktischen Beispielen veranschaulicht. Der historisch gewachsene Kommerzialisierungsprozess des Sports als Reaktion auf gesellschaftliche Veränderungen im Laufe der Zeit wird ebenso thematisiert, wie auch aktuelle Beispiele und Trends aus der Sportökonomie.In response to the increasing request of many critics to reform the system of education, the Austrian government has proclaimed 2011 as the year of education. The declared aims of the authorities were the so-called “Große Bildungsreform“ ("Great Educational Reform") as well as the renewal of the school system. One of the most important parts of these renewals was the implementation of national educational standards. A higher quality-level should be attainable due to the precise identification of the desired learning outcomes and competencies of pupils. Sustainability and outcome orientation are intended to be the central topics of modern teaching. In some school subjects the conversion process has been completed, in other subjects like sports (“Sportkunde”) the paradigm change is at the beginning. The present work particularly focuses on the topic “Sports and Economy“. The author describes the diverse crosslinks between sports and economy and illustrates practical examples for a deeper understanding of the importance of sports. The author developed a guide for teachers to facilitate the conversion process and to help teachers dealing with the complex requirements of the new system. It should support teaching staff in providing a high-quality and modern teaching for their pupils. In addition to topic-specific, theoretical explanations and information the dissertation offers directly-usable teaching materials in form of worksheets and competence-orientated tasks.
